North Yorkshire Healthy Early Years Award

The Healthy Early Years Award is free for all North Yorkshire Early Years Providers including: day nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools, childminders who work on their own, childminders with assistants or childcare on domestic premises.

The North Yorkshire Healthy Early Years award covers three key themes which you can chose to work on in any order. These are:

Opportunities for babies and children to be active throughout the day

Healthy Food

Healthy Food

Improving the healthiest of food throughout the day along with activities around food and health

Emotional Health and Wellbeing & PSED

PSED

Staff Wellbeing

for silver and gold

Staff Wellbeing

Taking acion to support the health & wellbeing of all staff

Your setting needs to register with the North Yorkshire Healthy Early Years Programme to access the documents needed to start the award and make a submission.

Once you have chosen your first theme to work on, download and use the action plan template which details each criteria and any further evidence required for each theme. The action plan needs to be completed as an electronic document and uploaded as evidence towards completing the theme criteria; once they have all been met.

Submission Dates

There are three submission dates each academic year

 

The award levels are

Bronze level

Complete the criteria for one theme, uploading one action plan with accompanying evidence.

Silver level

Complete all criteria for two themes, uploading two action plans with accompanying evidence for each theme. 

Also complete the Staff Wellbeing section.

Gold level

Complete all criteria for three themes, uploading three action plans with accompanying evidence.

Also maintain Staff Wellbeing criteria.
