The Best Start in Life award can be completed at any time in a settings Healthy Early Years award journey to recognise and celebrate early years settings that create environments where children can develop strong foundations for a healthy future, school readiness and there is family engagement within everyday practice. There is a logo and certificate for achievement of this award.

The Best Start in Life Award has been developed to supplement the three core themes of the Healthy Early Years Award of; Active Lives, Healthy Eating and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED). For these three themes, one completed theme = Bronze award, two (plus Staff Wellbeing) = Silver award and all three themes = Gold award. We would highly recommend that settings complete the other Healthy Early Years Award to support a whole setting approach to health and wellbeing. 

This action plan is to evidence the settings approach to the Best Start in Life Award. It is a combination of having certain criteria in place alongside providing brief evidence of impact for each of the core areas

Once all criteria have been achieved, please upload your completed action plan by one of the three submission dates available each year.  Your evidence will be submitted for assessment towards an award and go through the quality assurance process.   We will be in touch after the award submission deadline to let you know whether your application has been successful.
